Week of Literary Love: Grendel's Mother
Allison Dunn
11 February, 2016

{Part 4 in our pre-Valentine's week of dating profiles from literary characters!}

My Self-Summary:

A mother, trying to do right by her son.

What I’m doing with my life:

Minding my own business at the bottom of a lake in my own personal liar… that is until someone kills my son and then mama’s gotta take care of business.

I’m really good at:

Slaying Danes and Geats while they slumber in their mead halls.

The first thing people usually notice about me:

That I may or may not be a woman, or even human. I don’t like labels.

The six things I could never do without:

Grendel, my son, the fruit of loins, my pride and joy, my offspring, my boy.

I spend a lot of time thinking about:

Beowulf. Specifically his head. On a platter.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit:

Sometimes I sing Danish drinking songs when I’ve had one too many.

I’m looking for:

Some goddamn peace and quiet.
